Now listening:
Rage Against the Machine. The blog that I wrote made me think about this group immediately, that is why I posted the picture and now I am listening all the anger reflected though their songs. This music is perfect to think how to fight against the system.

In one blog I was writing about stress and the sense of life. After my trip to Chiapas I had the opportunity to talk with one indigenous family that use to live in one community in the middle of nowhere (what I try to mean by nowhere is that the closest city is 2 hours form there) but to say that is in the middle of nowhere is really unfair. Our cities are really in the middle of nowhere, we think that we have everything, but that is not the reality, we just have superfluous stuffs and what really cares like nature, and freedom (talking of it not in liberal way), we lack of it completely.

As once a friend of mine said to me “in the city we are in captivity, which is why people become so individualistic and aggressive, who will like to share things with others if in this state the only important thing is to have more and more. The community for addition gets completely forgotten and erodes”.

How much you have is how much you value, in that way the society works. Who really cares about the important things, working 10 or more hours a day makes you a better person? Even if you don’t have time to spend the money that you earn or that money is spend only consuming clothes or electric goods that in one or two months are going to be old because the new ones with more capacity or the new season is coming, so you have to dress in a proper way. We are all in the system. What can we do? Fight against it? Getting out of it? Is that really possible?

All the countercultural movements, sooner or later became part of the system, so you have to be changing every specific period of time. But in a way doing that makes you to be more integrated in the system, capitalism is like that it reinvents itself one and other time ad infinitum. So to be reinventing yourself trying to stay off the system makes you more part of the system than anything else.

Many people can think that the solution is to go the jungle or to live completely apart the system, but for me that is not the solution. I think that Walter Benjamin was right, what we have to do is to use the own mediums of capitalism so we can change it. So getting off the system can’t be a solution, is better to fight from inside it. The problem is, as mention above, that capitalism has the great ability integrate everything that surround it and of course not leaving anything that is into it to go out, that is, not permitting the people to think by their own. So that is the great challenge being into it, but at the same time being conscious that this is not the best way of life.
