JUST A RELATE

Too many days without blogging, the problem is that I have been very busy. A lot of readings, essays, classes to prepare and so on. The good news is that there is the possibility to give classes at the Open University in the UNAM. More and more work but now I don’t care, because I am doing what I like.

I am very worried about my thesis I have to start to think more about it, I hope that this weekend I can work on it more. On the next week I am going to blogg my essay about The “sacred” and the posmodernity.

On the other side, getting away form school and work, there a re a lot of cultural thing to do: The Olllin Kan (the festival of cultures on resistance), the Internatioanl Film Festival, Sahli Shankar (a great sitarist), a few parties, etc. Every time is a great dilemma to decide staying here at home studying or going to party, but I have to decide, I try to chose the first option but it in not easy at all, sometimes is not an option.

No escucho, no oigo y no veo nada.

Fin de la Semana Santa o como algunos le llaman la semana mayor. Hay muchas cosas que hacer, no podríamos nada más dejar de pensar en lo que tenemos que hacer en un día, una semana, un mes, un año, etc. Sin embargo, siempre pensamos en lo que nos depara el destino; El ser para la muerte diría Heidegger.

SEMANA SANTA PARA DESCANSAR Y DISFRUTAR

En estos días he estado investigando sobre la elección de López Portillo. Presentarse como candidato único no fue precisamente lo más adecuado para seguir con la hegemonía priísta, sin embargo, la corriente pragmática y doctrinaria del PAN no llegaron a un acuerdo, con lo que la farsa electoral no siguió adelante.

Todas las semanas de vacaciones se vuelven muy cortas y creo que esta nos será la excepción, no importa para que las uses, siempre sucede lo mismo. Hoy en la noche parto por algunos días un pequeño pueblo en el noreste de Puebla. Espero que este pequeño viaje me sirva para reflexionar un poco.

One more professional exam now was time for Olivia, one of the most intelligent girls that I have met. The thesis was a proposal about the link between the exchange rate and the internal and external rates. The most interesting part of the exam was the discussion of the way that the rational behavior of the exchange rates can be predicted; the problem is that there are a lot of externalities that can affect the model, son it is only proved partially.

Yesterday I went to see Brian Eno’s music for Airports interpreted by Bang on a Can All-stars. It was really a pleasure to sea the magistracy of the interpretation. In Mexico is really hard to see contemporary classical music of that level, and the Radar Festival is one of those opportunities, unfortunately it is only once a year.

Jamiroquai on Wednesday. Nice concert, but no too much to say for me.

And finally on Friday the singers, of Algerian origin, of Zebda (Hakim et Mouss), on the last blog I said that were the ex-musicians but the real thing is that Zebda still exits and they are the singers. The energy that they have on the stage is really amazing. They sang just two song of Zebda and the others ones were of their own repertory.

Sometimes I feel the necessity of writing something and today was not the exception, the problem is that I have so much to do. The good thing is that music keeps going on:

On Saturday Brian Eno’s Music for Airports and tomorrow ex Zebda Musicians. Two great concerts to go.

GRAN TESIS Y EXAMEN

Los Superelegantes. Grupo de chicho-chica español con una gran calidad musical. Se presentaran en el festival Vive Latino.

El jueves pasado asistí al mejor examen profesional que me haya tocado, fue de Georgina y Fernando, dos amigos de la Facultad de Políticas que estudiaron comunicaciones. La tesis, en resumidas cuentas y conforme a lo que pude captar durante el examen: es una nueva propuesta en torno al nacionalismo y su enraizada creencia de que este fenómeno se daba de solamente de forma vertical, es decir, la oligarquía es la que imponía el concepto de nacionalismo, sin embargo, a partir del análisis hermenéutico de tres textos de principios del siglo diecinueve se demuestra que la construcción es horizontal, esto es, el nacionalismo emana de la construcción de la sociedad en su conjunto.

Lo interesante del trabajo de investigación fue la novedosa propuesta teórica mediante el análisis de los textos que emana de grupos indígenas de diversas partes del país, por lo pronto sólo me acuerdo que unos eran de Sonora. Sin duda es una tesis que invita a todos a la reflexión, tal como lo expresaron los sinodales en su conjunto.

Por increíble que parezca, en el caso de una tesis de licenciatura, fue recomendada para su publicación. En hora buena para Georgina y Fernando.

Y SIGUEN LOS CONCIERTOS

El lunes fui a ver a Jaques y Paula Morelenabum, un exquisito bossa nova, interpretando lo más representativo de este género (principalmente canciones de Antonio Carlos Jobim, del quien fueron discípulos). Fue una gran oputunidad de ver bossa nova en vivo.

El jueves tuve la fortuna de ver a Los Aterciopelados excelente grupo colombiano que hace aproximadamente 10 años que no veía, sin duda han tenido una evolución musical. Interpretaron canciónes tan mágicas como La pipa de la paz, Bolero Falaz, Baracunatana y varias más que nunca había escuchado pero que me encantaron.

Para terminar la semana (sábado) fui a ver el homenaje al gran compositor, que como la mayoría no fue profeta en su tierra, Juan García Esquivel. Un grupo de estadounidenses que se dedica a tocar música exótica (Waitiki Orchestrotica) se decidieron a rehacer las partituras de Esquivel, las cuales no existían o simplemente se pedieron, y ofrecieron una muy divertida interpretación del excéntrico compositor mexicano.

En fin, ha sido una semana muy productiva, culturalmente hablando, ojala que académicamente hablando las siguientes sean iguales.
